Margaret Campbell married William Clarke in 1882 near Fernmount at the Bellinger River.
In her obituary in the Macleay Chronicle in 1932, it was said that she was born in Ireland and came to the Macleay at fourteen years old. An investigation of the immigration shipping arrivals found that seventeen year old Margaret Campbell arrived in Sydney on the Camperdown in 1880 with nineteen year old Thomas Campbell. They were both from County Fermanagh.
Further investigations showed that the parents and other siblings of Margaret and Thomas arrived in Sydney before and after them. The family settled in the Bellingen area.
