Ann Ryan was born in 1840 and her parents were Daniel and Ann Ryan. Tobias Purcell was born in 1834, a son of John and Bridget Purcell. Both Ann and Tobias were born in County Kilkenny. They married in Sydney in 1859 and their eight children were born in Sydney. Ann died in 1914 and Tobias died in 1921.
John Purcell was born in 1860 and he married Margaret Smyth in 1885 in Kempsey. They had eight children.
Ellen Purcell was born in 1864 and married James Clare in Sydney in 1886. James was born in County Kilkenny, a son of Thomas and Catherine Clare. They had three daughters and seven sons. They owned a property on the corner of Devonshire and Crown Streets Surry Hills and James operated his dairy nearby. Their first daughter, Ann, married James Owen Smyth. Catherine, their second daughter, married Leonard Eugene Clarke, grandson of Michael Clarke. Ellen joined the Sister of Mercy Singleton Congregation.
